The value of arbitrary delineations of intangibles can go down, as well as up

A new index tracking the value of US radio spectrum was launched yesterday, and now stands at 253.17 - though without a historical context that's not very useful.?lt;/p>

Ever wonder just what the heck was hosting web "OC48"? Not surprisingly many network engineers and IT managers aren't up to speed (no pun intended) on just what OC really means...and what all is available to enahnce their company's applications within this bandwidth category.

So....here's a quick run down to set you straight.

The OC (optical carrier...fiber optic based broadband network internet domain goes as follows, starting with a T3/DS3 internet connection monitor carrier and then on to an OC-1:

DS3 (Electrical) = 44.736mbits/sec = 28 T1s/DS1s

STS1 (Electrical) = (1) DS3 @ 44.736mbits/sec with SONET (Synchronous Optical NET) overhead = 51.840mbits/sec

OC-1 (Optical) = (1) STS1 on Optical facilities

OC-3 = (3) OC-1s = 155.52mbits/sec

OC-9 = (9) OC-1s (not streamyx prolink used) = 466.56mbits/sec

OC-12 = (12) OC-1s or (4) brunei malaysia = 622.08mbits/sec

OC-18 = (18) OC-1s (not commonly used) = 933.12mbits/sec

OC-24 = (24) OC-1s (not commonly used) = 1.244gbits/sec

OC-36 = (36) OC-1s (not commonly used) = 1.866gbits/sec

OC-48 = (48) OC-1s or (4) OC-12s or (16) OC-3s = 2.488gbits/sec

OC-192= (192) OC-1s or (4) OC-48s or (16) OC-12s or (64) OC-3s = 9.953gbits/sec

The reason for the stair-stepping of the OC Hierarchy is due to the fact that the next available level of multiplexing ('muxing") of lower-level circuits is usually 4: (4) OC-3s = (1) OC-12, and (4) OC-48s = (1) OC-192.

This muxing scheme is usually dictated by the equipment manufacturers and is pretty much an adopted standard in the Telecom wireless internet booster - hence the lack of the lesser-common bandwidth aggregations like OC-9, OC-18, etc. The only exception is the OC-3, which was needed to allow the upper-level hierarchy to work.

Hope this tidbit of info helps the network design decisions for your business now....and in the future!

On Location - Morocco

Just three streamyx business a half hours from the UK is Morocco, where in just two weeks, I visited desert, mountains, a beautiful ancient city, coast and two of the most vibrant cities in North Africa. Oh and ate lots of delicious food!!

I started my journey in Casablanca, in the north of the country, an area that has a distinct feel of Southern Spain (or maybe it's the other way round!) dotted with white villages and olive groves.
Rabat, Morocco's current capital has a lovely, albeit less gritty feel internet for dummies it than other Moroccan cities, and Meknes, with its fertile land and agricultural produce are both well worth spending internet movies time exploring. The ancient Roman city of Volubilis was one of my highlights - the Romans really did know how to pick a beautiful site to build a city. Amidst rolling green countryside with far reaching views, I visited this site at dusk and the beautiful light on the colonnaded streets topped by the resident stalks nest and the amazingly preserved mosaic floors was enchanting.

Fes is less visited that Marrakech but no less wonderful with a medina that loses you on arrival amidst its 9400 streets. The donkeys here have specially made rubber shoes helping them to grip the winding and sloping streets - cries of 'Balek' can be heard throughout the medina, as a warning to get out of the way of an approaching donkey carrying its load!
The main industries in Fes are handicrafts including adsl connection speed painted ceramics - baked in kilns, heated by burning olive stones. Also famous for its tanneries where some of the most beautiful leather is dyed...the natural dyes are rumoured to include pigeon excrement & cows urine amongst other ingredients!

The north and south of the country are separated by the Atlas Mountains and as I left the whitewashed city of Fes and headed south the scenery changed from mountains and cedar forests to dusty pink Berber villages and desert.

I spent one night in a private broadband internet comparison camp at Erg Chebbi sand dunes, located just forty minutes east of Erfoud. The orange sand dunes seem to rise out of the barren landscape from nowhere and the silence at night, broken only by the sound of Berber drumming, mixed with the amazing star-filled sky, is magical. This said - the dunes here are a well trodden route and even in low season I did share the sunrise with about 15 other people, making the whole experience that little less special. If a unique desert experience is what you are seeking, for me Morocco is not the place to do this.

For a first time visit to Morocco I would without doubt say that the combination of the Atlas mountains, Essaouira and Marrakech is a really great one.
The Atlas Mountains, home to North Africa's highest peak, offer stunning scenery with wonderful trekking opportunities. Dramatic snow capped peaks hide tiny Berber villages and crystal clear rivers where local women wash their brightly coloured laundry and graze their cattle.

The bohemian, laid back feel of Essaouira with its crumbling ramparts, thriving art community and windswept beach combines perfectly with the madness and sensory overload of Marrakech where after a day spent bartering and dodging donkeys and scooters in the souq you can always escape to the peace and solitude of one of the many beautiful riads dotted throughout the medina.

A perfect combination

The Greeks Admired Ancient Egypt

It was broadband speeds year of 300 Before Christ (B.C) and Alexandria the great had given the land of Egypt telework promotion and broadband his close friend Ptolemy I Soter. They must have known a lot about the Egyptians way of thinking and how the hieroglyphic system worked, because they would keep these traditions alive though themselves.

Normally when one conquers another land, the loosing part tend to be destroyed, and what can be used is taken into the winning conquers own registries as their own.

But Alexandria can i get broadband not do this to the land of Egypt, nor did they destroy their gods and goddess. Actually they took in everything hotel sri malaysia genting Egypt was, even thou they must have known that the ancient people of Kemet homecall broadband - The Land of magic) were the last to hold a true key of pure knowledge. Alexandria added his own section to the Luxor temple, in its most holy of holiness. There he placed his name among the very ancient Egyptian pharaohs and so did he unite himself with them. They understood the Egyptians so well that they were able to change words and expressions, without the people revolving. Actually they probably just changed everything from the inside (another Trojan horse).

The real ancient Egyptians had ended long before the Greeks ever came, and their knowledge, seems baffling compared to the Greeks and other older cultures. They were truly the ancient modern society, but they had been at war for so many years, then at peace for lesser years, and then at war again. This was the time between Tut-ankh-amun's (around 1300 B.C) death up until the time of Jesus (around 7 B.C) birth.

The ancient way of thinking has always been kept malaysia asia dish high speed internet the knowledge that more modern societies would come too displayed.

Many ancient Greeks used Astrology like their ancestors did. From birth until death, the stars would never fail them. Some used their means for doing real mean in reality, other became humble servants of the compare broadband way of thinking. But never again would there be an Egypt so great and with the truth from the even older.

The Greeks never figured out everything about the Egyptians, because even until this day such matters are unknown. Still they say; how did they build such magnificent things?

The truth shall never be destroyed, therefore it was written in stone for all to see. Yet before this time where the people that was even more humble in mind, they declared that they knew nothing and therefore left nothing for the naked eye.

Tigers surrounded as Sri Lankan troops take coast

Sri Lankan troops have captured the last patch test my broadband speed coastline held by the Tamil Tigers, leaving the rebels completely surrounded.

The Playstation began way back in 1986 - when Nintendo was experimenting business broadband internet disc reading technology. when the CD ROM XA format was released, Nintendo began to talk to one of the two companies involved with the standard ... Sony. The two companies struck a contract deal whereby Sony would develop a Nintendo branded console that would load both traditional cartridges and the new Sony-developed CD format for gameplay.

However, the deal fell through in a shocking fashion at the 1991 CES (Consumer Electronics Show) when behind-the-scenes re-negotiations by Nintendo cancelled the contract between them and Sony and struck a new deal with Philips.
This sent waves through the Japanese business community as this type of backstabbing had never before been done - it as very un-Japanese. However, the deed had been done, and Sony was internet card in the cold. They took their technology which they had dubbed "Play Station" and went forward with it, developing their own games for the new console.

The Official Launch of the PlayStation was on Dec 3, 1994 and in North America on Sept 9, 1995. The PlayStation had in fact released over a year previously in Japan and had been the subject of a lawsuit between Sony and Nintendo as Nintendo tried to block sales and production claiming full ownership of the technology. Nintendo lost the lawsuit.

Sony had an innovative advertising campaign that helped to massively fuel expectation for the PlayStation release to a public unaware of Sony as a gaming company. It worked and has helped to push sales of the PlayStation console to more than 100 cable broadband units by the end of it's production run in March 2006.

The Playstation 2 was next - with development being announced in March 1999, the 6th Generation console was unleashed to a waiting world in 2000, and rapidly outsold everything else - to date over 120 million Ps2 consoles have been sold.

The PS2 had a unique feature in it's casing, the ability to fully play PSone or original PlayStation games due to the addition of the PSone chipset in the PS2 case, so it did not run a PlayStation emulation, it ran an actual PlayStation itself.

The PS2 went up against the newly released Xbox and the Nintendo Gamecube - due to the marketing campaigns and effective game development, the PS2 won the duel and emerged Sony as the industry leader - a title it would hold until the release of the Xbox 360.

With the release of the Xbox 360 and the massive delays in the PS3 release, Sony has slipped - they still hold the title of market leader, but they are slipping daily as both Microsoft and Nintendo gain on Sony's head start.

The Playstation 3 was announced after many months of speculation at the E3 conference on May 16, 2005. The PS3 has a huge number of technological achievements and a lot to live up to in regards to expectations.

  1. The Cell Processor - this internet service provider the heart of the Playstation 3 and in a lot of ways a very new generation and direction for Sony to go in. The Cell was developed by IBM with Toshiba and Sony providing funding (approaching $400 million) and technical requirements. The Cell is a totally new direction for computer processors because it is a 9 core processor that runs as a single fully integrated system within itself. with one core being the primary and distributing the load between the other 8 cores. The Cell's full name is Cell Broadband Engine Architecture - and combines a PowerPC base upon with 9 parallel-processing cores are placed. All designed to run as a single unit with distributed functions - so the main core can send internet security 2008 to all the other cores for processing, then hand the result back to the system bus at speeds between 3-12 times that of a similar non-Cell processor such as an Itanium or Opteron. The Cell has been tapped to streamyx report the main processor in IBM's new supercomputer, codenamed Roadrunner, that is expected to exceed one Petaflop or 1,000,000,000,000,000 Floating Point Operations per Second.
  2. Blu-Ray DVD player - A new technology DVD player that can read 50gb CD style discs. this is one of two competing DVD technologies, the other being HD-DVD. Playstation 3 is the first console to include Blu-Ray DVD functionality in the console itself for DVD playback.
  3. An upgradable Hard drive - The PS3 will ship with either a 20gb or 60gb hard drive installed, and from what has been reported, that device is upgradable to larger sizes as they become available
  4. HDMI port - A High-Definition Media Interface port is standard with the PS3 and allows it to be connected to new format television sets to allow for video and audio playback at much higher qualities than standard Composite video or Coax signal input. HDMI is all digital, providing for a very clean and crisp multi-channel signal.
  5. Bluetooth controllers - All PS3 Bluetooth controllers shipped are designed to be fully cordless. There is a usb port for recharging the internal batteries, and with Bluetooth up to 7 controllers can be used with one game.
  6. Wifi access - The PS3 has WiFi access and will allow for 802.11 wireless networking as well as wireless controllers to be used with the console.
  7. Memory card readers - The PS3 will have a flash memory card reader compatible with Memory Stick, CompactFlash, and SD/MMC flash memory.
  8. Software base - One of the innovative developments is the inclusion of an Open Source Development suite running on Linux - which appears to be the underlying OS for the Playstation 3. Not only does this mean independent developers can write code for the Playstation 3, but it means anybody can modify some of the Playstation OS to perform tasks; such as the Folding @ Home project from Stanford University, which will be available as a download to run when the PS3 is idle to take advantage of the processing power of the Cell.

One rumor that has not been substantiated is the Link Cable. It has been said that the PS3 will have an accessory called a link cable that will be similar to a SCSI cable in that multiple PS3's can be chained together in series. If this is correct it would enable a www streamyx to purchase multiple PlayStation 3's and use them as a massively parallel computer for gaming or software development, such as 3D rendering or large scale math calculations. If correct, that would be very cool and would bring the abilities of a supercomputer into the homes of millions of players.

The Playstation 3 looks to be a huge success, best broadband service Sony can bring it to bear before the Christmas season. One more delay could spell the end of Sony as a major player in the Game Industry because of the dominance of the Xbox and the Nintendo Wii. Let's hope Sony can deliver on it's assurance of PlayStation 3 before Christmas 2006 - it will be a sight to behold.

What Is A Tier 1 Bandwidth Backbone Provider?

One could say that cheap broadband provider phrases "Tier I" and "backbone provider" are a bit redundant; others might say that they comfortably go together (like "ice cold Coke"). the functional contrast should shaw high speed internet between a Tier I provider (e.g. AT&T, MCI, Sprint, Savvis/C&W, Global Crossing, Qwest, Level 3) and companies that are not Tier I providers -- who themselves have to buy malaysia asia from Tier I providers.

Best example would be a local Internet provider offering T1 or DS3 service in a regional area: they might have their own facilities interconnecting different serving offices in a region, but they would have to send the traffic to a Tier I provider if the traffic goes outside their region. The Tier II provider makes money by buying a fixed amount of bandwidth, and selling it to malaysia streamyx com subscribers. The company must decide on what level of contention their customers must be exposed to. If you take a look at the W(wireless) ISP forum in BBR Reports you will see several threads from time to time discussing something like "how many customers will fit on a T1." Different providers will have different philosophies about how much to oversubscribe their network. What is true in the WISP world is also true in the dsl internet providers internet world, and is also in the Tier II world. Think of it this way: if a local Tier II provider like "X-Com" (made up name) sells a T1 service to a new customer, will they add incrementally to their wholesale bandwidth purchase? No. But if Sprint sells a T1, their customer will get a dedicated port onto Sprint's backbone network at full speed with no contention.

Generally, there will be a price advantage of using a Tier II provider compared to a Tier I provider, as Tier II providers undercut the Tier I ampang malaysia and can afford to do so as they are oversubscribing their network facilities.

Tier II providers can be excellent source of inexpensive bandwidth if your network needs can absorb occasional delays or added latency (I'm not talking outages) -- if it's not mission critical or real time stuff, or if you're not yourself reselling the bandwidth.

Others might have other thoughts....

Bottom line is don't shop just on price. There's more to making a good business decision than dollars and cents. You internet service providers list to make sure you get exactly what you need no matter what the cost.
